Coolant Systems

Maintenance Makes the Difference

Think of your vehicles coolant system as the heart of your vehicle. The water pump circulates vital fluid, coolant/antifreeze, through the engine’s radiator and coolant system and protects it from overheating and potentially expensive damage. By understanding the warning signs of coolant system problems and practicing proper maintenance, you will extend the life of your vehicle.

Have your system checked by a qualified Belle Tire ASE Certified Technician at least once a year. We will check hoses, belts, your water pump, fluid levels and perform a flush and fill if necessary.

Obvious Warning Signs:

  • Antifreeze/coolant leaking beneath your vehicle
  • Temperature gauge is higher than normal or warning light on the dashboard
  • Overheating engine – steam from beneath the hood
  • Antifreeze/coolant on the floor of the passenger compartment
  • Poor heater or air conditioning performance

If you notice any of these symptoms, your radiator or heater could be clogged or corroded. They can also indicate a worn or leaking radiator or hoses. It is important to get your vehicle to a qualified specialist right away as soon as possible. Prolonged overheating can severely damage cooling system components and even your engine, resulting in some very expensive
repair bills.

By regularly checking fluid levels, belts and hoses yourself and bringing your vehicle in once a year for a coolant system maintenance check, you’ll be much more likely to avoid these problems and enjoy trouble-free driving.
