  • Tire wear will happen naturally thanks to friction that happens during driving, and it's this friction that makes it possible to drive at all. Tires are designed to create friction, which produces the force necessary to propel your car, and over time this friction contributes to tire wear. There are two quick ways to check tire wear.

The first way is done in three easy steps; Look, Feel and Test.

Look: First, visually inspect all of your tires. Look for low tire pressure, bulges, and any obvious uneven wear of the tire tread.

Feel: Second, feel the tread by hand to detect wear such as cupping, which is scalloped dips on the edge of the tire, or feathering, treads where there is a rounded edge on one side and a sharp edge on the other. By running your hand over the tire, you can feel the difference between the sharper edges created by feathering and the smoother dips from cupping.

Test: Finally, check the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge for proper inflation. You can purchase a tire pressure gauge for a few bucks at any auto parts store or visit any Belle Tire location during business hours to use our gauge and free air.

The second way is with “The Quarter Test”.

According to the law, tires are legally worn out when they have worn down to 2/32” of remaining tread depth. However, we highly recommend at that you maintain a tread depth of at least 4/32”. In order to test if your tires have reached this level, place a quarter into several tread grooves across the tire. If part of Washington’s head is always covered by the tread, then you have more than 4/32” of tread depth remaining.

If you find that any of your tires are worn or have any questions regarding your tires, our technicians and experts would be happy to help at any Belle Tire location

  • Bridgestone Ecopia tires are better for your wallet and the planet. The Ecopia is an environmentally friendly tire designed to improve rolling resistance. This can help passenger cars achieve better gas mileage without sacrificing the smooth, quiet ride and reliable wet handling they have come to expect from Bridgestone tires.

    The Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 features:

Nano Pro-Technology: This new advancement works to reduces levels of CO2 by controlling the interaction between rubber materials, polymer and fillers at the molecular level. This also contributes to an increase in fuel efficiency and improved rolling resistance.

Fuel Saver Sidewall Compound: The sidewalls on the Ecopia reduce the amount of heat that is generated as compared to the traditional sidewall. This helps to lower the rolling resistance of the tire by ultimately returning more energy back to the tire.

Silica: The addition to silica in the tire results in an increased flexibility that can help to improve traction in wet conditions.

Recycled Ground Rubber: The tires are composed of ground up post consumer tires that contributes 5% of the tread compound.

The Bridgestone Ecopia incorporates the latest fuel saving technologies and offers a 65,000 mile limited tread wear warranty. Based on your vehicle type, average miles per gallon and current fuel prices, you could potentially save up to $400 just by choosing to equip your vehicle with Bridgestone Ecopia tires.

Bridgestone is offering a Rethink Green Mail-In Promotion from April 1-30, 2013 on the purchase of any four (4) eligible Ecopia or Eco-Product tires.
